Leonard

Posted on May 10, 2010 by BrassyDel

Rawr! Isn’t he scary? His name is Leonard, and he lives in a very  humid cave somewhere along the Pacific coast. Leonard likes peach pie, long walks on the beach, and stealing fingernails from corpses. Okay, I guess he’s a tad creepy, too.

Beware of PMS Monster

Posted on May 3, 2010 by BrassyDel

She may look pink and fuzzy and cuddly, but beware! See those talons? Those pointed teeth? Those wonky eyes that look hither, thither, an ne’er together? She could snap at any moment! If you’re wise, you’ll tread lightly and carry a big tub of chocolate ice cream.

Quick Sketch – Hibiscus Mug

Posted on March 23, 2010 by BrassyDel

Just a quick tablet sketch for today. There’s a red and white Hibiscus mug from Hawaii* sitting next to my keyboard, and it’s one of my favorite mugs (I collect awesome mugs). So that’s what you get today. I sketched in blue and shaded it purple because I felt like. Call it artistic license. You can also call it pretty…

I’m Gonna Eat You, Little Fishy!

Posted on March 19, 2010 by BrassyDel

Another Dalmation Press original coloring book page. Scanned it as B&W 300 dpi lineart into Photoshop, cleaned up the page, converted to RGB, and colored with my Wacom tablet. It’s a cross between practicing coloring techniques and just having some fun down time while Teh Hubbles is entertaining our baby.

Coloring Books Rock

Posted on February 19, 2010 by BrassyDel

Just for fun, here is a coloring page! I colored this with colored pencils while hanging out with my 9 year old niece. I’ve decided it is my pooch Tank after running through mud puddles.  The coloring page is from a Dalmation Press original coloring book, Puppies and Friends. I tried to find the actual book online to link to,…

Warm-up art: Creamsicle

Posted on December 29, 2009 by BrassyDel

I did some traditional inking today, mostly trying to get back into practice. Today’s offering is my (adorable) perpetual kitten, Creamsicle. Before you wonder what the heck is going on with those paws, I’ll mention that he’s polydactyly. This real-life cat has 7 toes on each front paw, and 5 on each back paw (for a grand total of 6…

Happy Monster is Happy

Posted on December 11, 2009 by BrassyDel

Another monster for you. This one is for a friend who could seriously use a pick-me-up right about now. And he gets a snaggle tooth! I look at this little guy and I just want to watch him flap those little round hands enthusiastically.

Grumpy Monster

Posted on December 10, 2009 by BrassyDel

Playing around in Photoshop again. I like burnt orange, especially in the fall and winter. Oh, and I’m feeling a little grumpy today. He almost needs a snaggle tooth, but maybe that’d be too much.

Beep beep boop!

Posted on November 28, 2009 by BrassyDel

I was playing around with the pen tool in Photoshop and came up with this robot. I would consider him sort of a prototype, I guess, because I’m not happy with him. I wanted something cute, kid-friendly, and robot-y. By kid-friendly I mean something that a child, say between the ages of three and ten, might actually think was pretty…

Matti

Posted on October 4, 2009 by BrassyDel

Here’s a concept sketch of my dog Matti. I posted some more art on the FanFlow, which is available to members. And here is a photo of Matti, my Flat-Coated Retriever-slash-Mystery Mutt (shelter pup, ergo parentage is questionable at best). He’s a year and a half old now.
