Kids, Dogs, and the Easily Offended

Posted on June 25, 2012 by BrassyDel

Having both dogs and children, I’ve noticed the myriad similarities. Having the inability to keep my opinions to myself, I’ve also noticed that some people get extremely offended when you compare children in general, and heaven forbid their child specifically, to dogs. I’m not talking about that one single relative who tells everyone at Thanksgiving about how Prince Fancypants Fwuffytoes…

Jailed

Posted on June 22, 2012 by BrassyDel

As you can deduce from the abject sorrow on Tank’s face, this is how he spends most of his days. Confined and neglected! He spends days without seeing the sun or feeling the dirt beneath his paws. He’s lucky if we remember to even feed him. Life is hard when you’re Tank.

Git ‘er done!

Posted on June 18, 2012 by BrassyDel

There were times, many years ago, when I was referred to as prolific. It may seem like a non-compliment, a nuetral observation or a politeness alluding to the superiority of quality over quantity, but it’s something I desperately miss about myself. Having an autoimmune disease means that I don’t necessarily look sick, but that doesn’t mean I’m not. Sometimes it…

Happy Father’s Day!

Pixie and the Hubbles share some iPad time on the couch, probably watching Top Gear or something equally manly, like My Little Pony.

The Big Oh-One

Posted on June 15, 2012 by BrassyDel

Mr. Chappy McChapperson turned one a couple months ago. As you can see, he’s thrilled! This kid is walking and talking and just doodling around ALL OVER THE PLACE. It’s crazy! Fortunately, he and sister Pixie are the bestest pals right now. Well, usually. Pixie’s a pretty good sharer, so that helps! This guy, on the other hand, still thinks…

March Madness

Posted on June 11, 2012 by BrassyDel

It is with surprising regularity that I find myself sick in March, one way or another, and not insignificantly so. One year in college, I didn’t get a flu shot and when I finally came down with it, I was sick for almost the entire month. For the worst week of it, I slept 18-22 hours a day. It didn’t…

I Found Springtime Indoors and It Was TERRIBLE

Posted on May 10, 2012 by BrassyDel

I always forget about the creepy crawly critter influx that happens when Spring begins, up until it starts happening. Creepy crawlies go from the ocassional indoor discovery to ALL THE DAMNED TIME. Spiders are fine. Outside. I am a highly evolved and well-educated mammal and I’m sorry, but I’m still afraid of spiders. And bugs. Especially ones with extra legs…

Broke

Posted on March 12, 2012 by BrassyDel

I have a broken fence, broken roof, broken child, broken windows, broken car. And I’m broke. Image (c)Eridesign, used under Creative Commons license. But the fence can be mended, the windows replaced, the roof patched. The leaking from the rain will stop, the glass from the windows will be cleaned up. The car still runs, though it isn’t winning any…

My Desktop is Cooler than Yours*

Posted on March 8, 2012 by BrassyDel

Fortunately there’s no sound, otherwise it would be barkier than yours, too. Like a typical chick, I change my desktop wallpaper fairly often. Every month or two, or I may go through a phase of putting up a new photo every few days for awhile. While looking for a photo for last Thursday’s Snow Day post, I came across this…

This Stinky Toy is Awesome!

Posted on March 5, 2012 by BrassyDel

If you recall, Tank is not a huge fan of children (or quiet), though since working with an Animal Behaviourist at the beginning of last summer, he’s come a long way. It was actually a very quick turn around, and I’m beyond glad we were able to keep him AND have it safe for everyone. However, while his patience has…
