Menu Plan Monday 10-12-2009

Posted on October 12, 2009 by BrassyDel

Menu Plan Monday Last week I actually managed to stick to the plan, though Sunday we pretty much had leftovers instead of me actually making dinner.  It worked out really well, and I didn’t need any mid-week grocery store runs! Today I’m getting groceries, and I am hoping to stick to the plan again this week and not need any…

Fanart Friday – Cloth Diapers!

Posted on October 9, 2009 by BrassyDel

A bit of an odd choice for “fanart,” but I’m a big fan of cloth diapers.  So you get a cutie-patootie baby wearing a Blueberry brand cloth diaper. I kind of want this diaper, actually, because it matches my baby’s travel system (stroller and car seat).  How cool is that?

Gardening update

Posted on October 7, 2009 by BrassyDel

The yard is slowly coming together.  I’m really hoping that I can get a lot done before we get our first frost and then snow.  There are some shrubs that need to be trimmed back, and trimming can encourage growth, so you don’t want to do it during the winter when the shrub is supposed to be hibernating.  I also…

Body After Baby Challenge – Week 2

Posted on October 6, 2009 by BrassyDel

Body After Baby Week 2 Today marks the start of Week 2 in the Body After Baby Challenge! Week 1 Recap Last week’s challenge was to drink water, with a maximum points reward of 8 points per day, corresponding to 64 ounces of water per day.  For me, that’s easy-peasey.  I usually drink at least 128+ ounces of water…

Menu Plan Monday

Posted on October 5, 2009 by BrassyDel

Menu planning!  I’m trying to cut back drastically on our grocery expenses, and the best way to do that is to plan ahead and then stick to it.  I don’t really need to plan ahead for breakfasts and lunches, since that’s generally things like oatmeal, cold cereal, sandwiches, fruit, etc. For dinners this week, I’m planning to use what we’ve…

Matti

Posted on October 4, 2009 by BrassyDel

Here’s a concept sketch of my dog Matti. I posted some more art on the FanFlow, which is available to members. And here is a photo of Matti, my Flat-Coated Retriever-slash-Mystery Mutt (shelter pup, ergo parentage is questionable at best). He’s a year and a half old now.

Body After Baby Challenge – Week 1

Posted on September 29, 2009 by BrassyDel

I’m participating in the Body After Baby Challenge over at the Mama Notes blog. The Challenge lasts for 8 weeks and each week there is an individual mini challenge. Not having participated before, I was really afraid of the first challenge. What was it going to be? How many push-ups can you do? (Does one-half count?) How many miles can…

Fanart Friday – Robin!

Posted on September 25, 2009 by BrassyDel

Robin from Shortpacked! doing some yoga. I almost drew Leslie doing yoga, but then decided that the simple antithetical nature of Robin and yoga together was more fun. Inked with microns, colored with copics and then scanned.

Have a Happy Punctuation Day!

Posted on September 24, 2009 by BrassyDel

So today is National Punctuation Day, and I’m a huge nerd. Given the combination of those two things, I celebrated punctuation today in the only way I really saw fit: I baked cookies. Punctuation cookies. I started with the basic recipe for Sugar Cookie Cut Outs from my Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook, but since I am not a huge…

One Man’s Weed…

Posted on September 21, 2009 by BrassyDel

…is another man’s wildflower. That man is my Hubbles. One of our constant arguments is what is a weed and what is actually a flower? For example, there’s an ugly bunch of weeds in our front yard next to the driveway. They grow like wildfire, they’re kind of spiky, and they have gnarly-looking yellow flowers. Hubbles says they’re flowers, duh….
