As I’m approaching the 6-week “no more excuses not to exercise” postpartum mark, I revisited my DailyBurn account to start counting calories again. That very same day, I went out to run some errands and Target had Hershey’s Eggs on deep discount post-Easter clearance. So. You can imagine how calorie counting went after that. Just a hypothetical question: if I’m counting calories, does that mean I have to stop eating when I hit my daily goal, or just stop counting?
I’m pretty relieved though. With how crappy I’ve felt for, oh, months, I’m feeling much better already. There’s still some green-eyed monster induced stress, and some barking-related stress, but the days aren’t too bad. I still can’t manage getting out of the house easily with both kids, and Chappy is still in my bed at night and isn’t on a firm schedule yet. Like: naps. If he sleeps through the night and takes regular naps within the next 9 months or so, he’ll be ahead of Pixie, so I’m not too fussed about it yet.
I’m not going to be able to walk the dogs with the kids by myself anymore, so I’ll have to start joining the Hubbles after work or at least on weekends. Generally I’m finishing up dinner prep while he takes the dogs out, so getting out with them is going to take more organization and better time management skills than I currently have. In the meantime, I can get my exercise in by going up and down the stairs and toting around two kids all day. Too bad washing dishes isn’t considered an ab workout. I would be set!
