The Goddess Tsuya

I feel like I don’t usually do fully finished illustrations unless it’s comic pages, and I’d like to do more. This is the Goddess Tsuya, done by hand in pen and ink, then digitally colored in Photoshop. I learned about zen tangles a year or so ago from a colleague and it’s certainly calming, though I raise my eyebrow a bit at the idea that they’re especially new. I think of it as pointillism plus doodling. I did this piece several months ago and donated a very large framed print of it to the 2016 Voz y Corazon youth art show and benefit. The overwhelming response reminded me that I really, really need to do more illustration type art! I enjoy doing it, it’s just easy to forget to make time instead of excuses.
