Check it, guys! Miss Adorable herself, Maddy Jones – now in color! Like the bottom panel on that dress? It’s a commercial use lace pattern I bought from FancyDog Studio, an online digital scrapbook company. It looks like she might be changing her name to Paula Kim Studio, which is the designer’s actual name, so don’t let that throw you.
I’ve actually been picking up commercial use clipart, papers, textures, etc for awhile now because they’re relatively inexpensive and it takes me so long to make them from scratch when I may only use them ONCE. And it’s really opened up a new word of patterns for me when I draw, because Tomodachi Forever is going to have a LOT of attention to fashion and design. Not like you need to give a crap about either of those things to enjoy the story – heck, no! Rather, I want it to be more visually appealing. Before, I tended to draw a lot of jeans and t-shirts.
Now, I have a couple hundred fashion Pins to direct each character’s style. The way we dress is often the first thing we show other people and their key clue into who we are. And who Maddy is, is bright, cheery, caring, and attentive. Well, in some regards. There ARE a few things that slip past this smartypants – just not usually from a textbook.
