This one is Amanda and Kieran. I think I already showed you guys Kieran’s new look, at least I did on Twitter already. So if you didn’t see it yet… here it is! Tada! Amanda hasn’t changed a whole lot visually. Her face is a little rounder and more pixie-like, and that’s about it. Still lots of curly blonde hair and she’s curvier than, for example, Kate. Also her cheeks are a bit too chipmunky here. She’s drawn on the interior side of the page in my sketchbook and I was having issues.
Character-wise, these two are way different. Amanda is still an instigator, but she’s less one-dimensional. She’s got her own shit going on, and it makes me like writing her so much more because there’s nuance there. She’s not just the crazy anime-style bully. It’s distinctly possible some people will actually like Amanda, or at least relate to her. I certainly don’t want everyone to like all of my characters, but I want them to be characterized well enough that you’ll have some kind of opinion. Apathy is death.
