Happy Fanart Friday! It’s Joyce from Dumbing of Age, which is apparently everyone’s favorite webcomic by David Willis. I’m still waiting for my It’s Walky! collectors edition, though. I would probably buy that sucker in hardbound if Willis ever makes one available. I have a Roomies! book, actually, but no It’s Walky!. Probably because Willis is an evil, evil man. Or because there’s not enough demand to print the books. WHATEVER.
This Joyce has been sitting on my hard drive for, like, ever. I actually did some extensive lineart cleanup on this one, far more than usual, because I HATED the inking. That’s probably why it sat so long, abandoned.
I created a tartan with Tartan Maker and fiddling around with layer opacities and some multiply/lighten shenanigans to do the skirt. I know. The tartan doesn’t move with the skirt because it’s just a pattern fill. Unlike the uber-talented Willis, I don’t usually draw tartans and plaids by hand.
I did on that GlitterFey piece, but that’s pretty much a special case. Mostly because I kinda suck at patterns, and the rest because I’m lazy.
