Drawing Biiku is a lot easier than drawing Amanda, though as I’ve been re-writing Tomo I’ve noticed that Amanda really has a lot more character depth than Biiku. Amanda arcs, and Biiku has a lot of agency but not a lot of growth. So, to answer a question I’ve been getting lately: no, I’m not reposting the Tomodachi Forever archives. However, I’m doing re-writes so Tomo is not dead. I’m still pretty busy with my other responsibilities, like a zillion doctor visits (and now PT for Pixie), so please don’t misunderstand this to mean more Tomo is coming soon.
At least, not comic pages. I’m not ready for an update schedule like that, and it feels a little weird going for a Dresden Codak-ish “schedule” without also spending a zillion hours painting the most gorgeous pages. Seriously: of course his updates are far between. That stuff is insane. On the other hand, he did it all at his own pace, kept plugging away, and now can triumphantly tell every hater to suck it with his ridiculously successful Kickstarter. I feel like there’s at least a couple different big lessons in there, like making something as good as you can even when there’s pressure to just ship something half as good twice as fast.
Anyway, Biiku! I’ve been doing a lot of facial expression practice lately to try to get back into the groove of each character. Gotta make them come alive again for me before I can write them.
