This is an old piece, but I don’t think it’s shown up on the blog before. I drew this back in high school so it’s maybe 14 years old? I don’t really draw stuff like this anymore, but I kind of miss it. Pointillism is very cathartic for me, but it’s kind of a zen activity and I don’t have the time. It’s not a 5 minutes at a time thing and takes a lot of uninterrupted focus.
It’s around 16″x20″ and has been hanging up at my parents’ house for ages, so I snapped a photo of it last time we were up there. I was going to bring it home a few years ago but apparently my dad had become quite attached to it. So there it stays.
I should also note that this was based on a magazine photo, but I simply don’t have the reference photo anymore to credit that properly. Art classes in high school do a lot of “find a picture in one of these old magazines and use it as a model“. It was probably a grid project, to boot. I still like doing these, but I’m so far out of practice I wouldn’t expect more popping up here anytime soon.
That’s amazing, Kat! It reminds me of the one on your wall that I thought was a photo until you told me that you drew it!
