A confession: I’m kind of a packrat. I try not to be, though! I try now to get rid of things that we don’t need, aren’t using, or are, y’know, broken. I have learned over the years that the odds of me fixing something that’s been sitting around for several months are slim. Same about using something “eventually“. I save things because “I might need it“. Well, seriously. For most things, you can save yourself some space (and stress) and just get it when you do finally need it, which is likely to be never.
This revelation does not include my crafting supplies. Anyone who touches my crafting supplies will suffer the consequences, HUSBAND.
So it is with great restraint that I brave Craigslist. Oh, Craigslist! Pages and pages of free junk and used stuff for sale. You can waste quite a bit of time browsing, and fill up your garage with an awful lot of crap. But not everything on Craigslist is worthless, and probably not even most of it. In fact, I’ve made out pretty well with judicious use of Craigslist. I use it for finding higher ticket items in good condition, like Pixie’s activity table we got her last December.
My latest Craigslist find is this behemoth:
Dudes, this thing is in great condition and I paid less for it used than I would have paid for a new toddler playset that was two steps and a 24-inch slide. Pixie has a blast ow-side with this thing. It’s technically her birthday present, though she got it a couple of weeks early.
It’s also sized much better for her than either of the closest playgrounds to us. She’s just too little. We’ll certainly keep going to the playgrounds since they have the extra advantage of there being other kids, but it’s not a great every day activity for us right now. This she can climb on to her hearts content every day. Ish. When it’s pouring down rain? Not so much. And I guess probably not when it’s snowing. But that’s only like 70% of the year here.
