Body After Baby Week 3
Well, we’re here. The start of week 3. I currently have a lot of thoughts about weightloss, my habits, personal psychology and motivation, blah blah blah. I’ll spare you.
You’re welcome.
Week 2 Recap
Week 2 can kiss my fanny. There is certainly plenty of it.
Got out with the dogs on Tuesday and racked up 4 points total across two sessions and was exhausted by dinner time. Wednesday and Thursday it was cold, dreary, and disgusting. Not only did I not walk, but I didn’t even exercise inside. Friday morning it was bright, but I was sick. I started feeling better when the weather turned and it started snowing. Friday afternoon was when I then had a lot of thoughts about how I was going about this weightloss and fitness challenge, and how I was letting myself make too many excuses. So Saturday and Sunday the Hubbles and I walked the dogs (with baby in tow) and got in 30 minutes both times. I also got in an extra 15 minutes on Sunday and then 15 extremely cold minutes Monday evening before dinner.
All in all, that was 4 pts (Tuesday) + 2 pts (Sat) + 3 pts (Sun) + 1 pt (Mon) for 10 points last week. We’re done counting points for walking, but I got out today and did 45 minutes with the baby and the dogs (in turns for them), so I feel like I might be getting back into a good habit thanks to last week’s mini challenge.
I had 56 points from week 1, so I’m now at 66 points.
I lost no weight last week. My digital scale gives you your weight to the nearest half pound, but I highly doubt it’s accurate to within a half pound. For example, this morning it couldn’t decide if I had lost no weight, or if I had lost a pound and a half. It does that sometimes, though. Maybe it’s just fickle, or kind of emo.
Week 3 Preview
This week’s mini challenge is healthy eating. You get a point per healthy meal, with a max of 3 points per day. It’s not entirely clear what counts as “healthy” but the basic guideline is no fast food (well, shyeah) and a meal should have at least two food groups. The example was:
“Example: a bowl of soup doesn’t count. A bowl of soup with vegetables or a salad does count.”
This is why I’m not entirely clear on what counts as healthy… to me, a bowl of soup is basically chicken broth and a ton of vegetables, and some starch or protein added to round it out. Then again, I make my own soup usually. I suppose a lot of the canned options are relatively healthy but have no veggies in them and do have lots of cream. I don’t really know.
So, anyway, healthy eating has been a focus of mine for awhile. I’ve learned a lot about healthy eating, but I tend to fall off the bandwagon. As an example, I was sitting at my computer reading blogs this morning, planning to make a grilled cheese sandwhich afterwards. Then I read this week’s BAB challenge and reconsidered. (Instead, I had a sandwhich loaded with veggies, a little cheese, whole wheat high fiber bread, and a side of left over edamame.)
I don’t think this will affect my dinner plans too much this week, with the exception of the spaghetti planned for Wednesday. It’ll need a veggie added in (on the side, since apparently you can’t mix veggies in your spaghetti unless you’re some kind of abhorrent food satanist1. It will definitely affect how I eat when I’m home during the day, and between meals.
1 Not to be confused with a La Vey Satanist or with the Hollywood presentation of the angsty, rebellious teen “satanist” or the sensationalist media presentation of the child-sacrificing, goat-blood drinking “satanist,” either.
I love your post… makes me smile 🙂 I didn't see any progress this week either. Gotta keep with it though!
I only got 11 points for Week 2…not my week either, I guess! Keep it up! =)
you are funny. Have I told you I love your blog layout? WHo did it?!
I completely agree with you on the whole scale issue!
@Samantha – Thank you! I did my blog layout myself, actually. I'm not done yet. I need to finish the doggy art with some cell shading and do some more playing around. I know basic HTML, but I'm still teaching myself the blog layout and CSS stuff.
