Body After Baby Week 2
Today marks the start of Week 2 in the Body After Baby Challenge!
Week 1 Recap
Last week’s challenge was to drink water, with a maximum points reward of 8 points per day, corresponding to 64 ounces of water per day. For me, that’s easy-peasey. I usually drink at least 128+ ounces of water daily, with 96 ounces being my bare minimum. Obviously, our dry climate plays a huge role in water consumption. It’s usually something out of state guests notice and comment on, since you don’t usually think ahead of time about needing to drink more water on vacation because you’re going to Colorado.
So that puts me at 8 pts/day * 7 days = 56 points so far. I’m also down one pound total, and I can wear my regular jeans again! We had a visitor last weekend, so I was really afraid of what all of the eating out would do to my efforts, but I think I did okay. I’ve been plateaued for quite awhile anyways, so I’ll take that one pound and be happy for myself.
Week 2 Preview
The mini challenge for this week is walking or running. 15 minutes is 1 point, with a maximum of 4 pts/day. This is going to be a far more challenging week for me! I definitely will not be running, though I’d love to work towards being healthy enough to run. For me, that is going to mean losing weight to help my asthma and building up endurance/conditioning.
As for walking, I used to take Tank out for about 45 minutes to an hour every day in the early fall last year (excluding the two days a week I was working down in Littleton). Then, first trimester nausea and exhaustion hit hard. Right now, I’m only up to about 25 minutes at a single stretch. I think working towards the max points per day on walking would be a reasonable goal for me, since it’s something I’ve been feeling bad about for a few months and wanting to accomplish anyway. (Though, when the mini challenge is push-ups, my goal is going to be one.)
I definitely don’t think I can do an hour straight to start with. My current plan of action is going to be 15-30 minutes at a time, and walk more than once per day. For example, I could go out during the day with one of the dogs for 15 minutes, then the other (it’s difficult to walk two 80+ pound dogs with a baby in tow all by myself). Later, when Hubbles gets home, we can all go out again for half an hour. So, we’ll see.
I’m also hoping to stay on track with making healthy food choices and to drop another 2 pounds this week. Wish me luck!
Wow, congrats on all your water drinking! I was around 90+ ounces a day when I was pregnant and stuck here in the desert! =) I definitly started slacking while we were home in WA and last weeks challenge got me started again! Congrats on fitting into your regular jeans! yeah! Good luck with week 2!
I just don't know how people manage to drink that much water! I averaged 2 glasses a day and THAT was a challenge!
YOu can do it!
Way to go on your sucess with last week's goal. 🙂
