We’ve been cloth diapering Hanners since she got big enough to fit her diaper covers (she was born at under 6 pounds, so she was too tiny at first!) and it’s been great. Yes, the disposable diapers were convenient, but they were also expensive and made her tushy VERY red and she started getting diaper rash after a couple of weeks. It’s now been 3 or 4 weeks of all cloth diapering and she’s had no diaper rash and her bum isn’t red and irritated. Also, we’re not forking over wads of cash every week for diapers or running out at 9pm because we didn’t realize we were almost out of disposables!
One of the blogs I read is called The Cloth Diaper Whisperer, and they blogged about a new diaper coming out. It’s by Kissaluvs, and they are called “Kissaluvs Marvels“. Basically, a rather pretty fitted diaper and they are one-size! One size diapers rock because they use snaps to fold down the material and fit tiny babies up until potty training. These diapers fit babies 10-40 pounds, so Hanners actually isn’t big enough for them yet. I’d really love to use some fitted diapers with her though, since the folded flats can leak in the covers when she has really explosive poops! Fitted diapers have elastic around the legs, so it helps keep everything in the diaper, and the cover you put on top is waterproof but breathable (no plastic pants here) and keeps her cloths dry.
The other new product Kissaluvs has is their small wet bag. It holds one diaper and accessories, so I’m not sure I’d ever use it. I’d be worried about being out and needing more than one diaper! I imagine the best use for it is short trips. If all you’re doing is running out to the grocery store and figure you’ll be home again in an hour or so, do you really need to lug the ENTIRE diaper bag around? Probably not. And last time I went grocery shopping I forgot the darn diaper bag anyways! The little travel tote is something that could easily live in the car and therefore never be forgotten.

These sound cool but I think the bumgenius 3.0 sounds like the better deal since its one size fits all for about the same price. What do you think have you tried both brands?
Beth, the BG AIO OS is about $8 less than the Kissaluv Marvels (though the ORGANIC BG AIO OS are the same price), so I would tend to agree. I haven't been able to try any fitteds with Hanners, but when she hits 10 pounds I can try the Marvels on her. I have a couple of BGs that we use but I think she is still a little small for them so she's had a leak or two out the gussets.
My understanding is that some parents prefer fitteds with covers for faster drying time, easier laundering, trimmer fit (though not sure if this applies to OS fitteds), or just they like them better.
