Being pregnant means a lot of changes and new experiences. At 7 months now, I’m feeling rather… ungainly. For example, walking both dogs at once is certainly not as easy as it used to be. Tank weighs about 75 pounds and is a certified Muscle-Butt. Matti is pushing 80 pounds these days, and he’s not as strong as Tank but when you’ve got about 150 pounds of combined dog ahead of you and suddenly a rabbit darts across the trail… yeah. I still love going on walks with them, but it’s a lot easier when the hubby is home and we can each take one.
In the vein of “being pregnant is a wonderous miracle but seriously guys it kind of sucks sometimes,” I have compiled a list for you of:
- mimosas
- my wardrobe
- shoveling snow – not that I love to shovel snow, but I feel useless not being able to. Plus, it’s some seriously good exercise.
- hiking – I used to walk Tank for an hour pretty routinely, and then first trimester nausea hit. Suddenly I was feeling horrible all day and getting exhausted after 10 minutes just on the trail by the house. I’m back up to being able to handle 30 minutes by myself with both dogs, and fortunately Tank seems to have hit adulthood and he no longer needs hour long walks every day. Actual hiking, like going up Mt. Sanitas, is something that is going to take some major reconditioning.
- anything but Tylenol
- unpasteurized cheeses
- my toes
From what I hear, after the munchkin arrives I’ll forget all about being uncomfortable and the myriad constitutive minor aches and pains. Heck, sometimes I can’t believe we’re getting so close to our due date and then realize that after we actually have the baby… the hospital is going to send her home with us.
On an unrelated note, Kitten aka Creamsicle is almost 2! He’s a grown up cat now, but he’ll always be The Kitten.
